
The bride’s party is still on the left and the groom’s on the right from the guest perspective, but now the entire wedding party is facing them, as in the photo.
This is great because the guests can see and hear the couple more easily, and it simplifies things for the photographers and videographer.
These professionals don’t need to get into odd positions or stand in the plants to get the best shots, and they don’t distract from the ceremony. Often they are delighted with this unexpected change.
Occasionally, one or both members of the couple feels too shy, prefers the traditional configuration, or the bride’s dress has been chosen because of its fabulous back. (Yes, a bride did tell me this once.) I always accommodate the wishes of the couple.
My feeling is that your guests come to see you get married, not to watch me officiate. Consider choosing this option to make your wedding more personal and inclusive for your family and friends.
